The best way to prevent corrosion is to wipe your blade with a neutral or food safe oil before storing it.

all high carbon steel will develop a patina over time. This can be a beautiful thing. it is something that can be removed fairly easily but most people prefer to leave it as it adds character to the blade.

As you use your blade, the edge may begin to roll over or dull. simply strop the edge on a leather strop or use a honing rod to fix this.

also, using a wood cutting board instead of plastic will greatly extend the life of your knife edge.
